Our Mission

to create extraordinary Jewellery inspired by the light, the elegance and the beauty of Ireland's Atlantic Wilderness

Photographs From The Edge

For this photo essay we were joined by Sligo friends cinematographer Peter Martin, designer/journalist/TV Presenter Leonie Cornelius and by "Blue" our 10 year old Irish red setter trying to upstage everyone, on Edenreagh Strand, North Sligo.

Designer Jewellery from the edge of Europe

Ireland's Wild Atlantic Coast at the Heart of contemporary Jewellery design

Martina Hamilton Jewellery Collections are handmade in Sligo, a stunningly beautiful place on Ireland's wild Atlantic coast. And it is the wildness of the Atlantic ocean, the wet crystal light and sea-glass waves, the tide burnished beaches,  the shells and the coastal flowers which are the inspiration for our jewellery designs. A newly-discovered ancestral link for designer Martina with Dernish, a tiny Island off Sligo's west coast which has been uninhabited since the 1950s, has strengthened that inspiration.  All jewelry pieces in our collections are handmade in our studio workshop in Sligo, by our family team of master goldsmiths.

Limpets and hair bells captured in silver and gold : At the far end of Streedagh beach in north Sligo, there's a clutch of boulders which, at low tide, links to a well raised tiny rocky outcropwe call Tor - Torgunnell as it's name is in full. Maybe it's not big enough to be deemed an Island it is nonetheless one ofthe most strikingly beautiful places on the Atlantic coast, with a stunning vista north to Sliabh League in County Donegal and the full sweep of Benbulben and County Sligo to the south and east. In sheltered inlets limpets of all shapes and sizes decorate the tideline, like a form of sea- written braille,  and in every small nook and cragg a delicate beautiful wild flower, the hair bell somehow thrives. It's these limpets and hair bells have inspired this collection. .
