to create extraordinary Jewellery inspired by the light, the elegance and the beauty of Ireland's Atlantic Wilderness
Designer Jewellery from the edge of Europe
Ireland's Wild Atlantic Coast at the Heart of contemporary Jewellery design
Martina Hamilton Jewellery Collections are handmade in Sligo, a stunningly beautiful place on Ireland's wild Atlantic coast. And it is the wildness of the Atlantic ocean, the wet crystal light and sea-glass waves, the tide burnished beaches, the shells and the coastal flowers which are the inspiration for our jewellery designs. A newly-discovered ancestral link for designer Martina with Dernish, a tiny Island off Sligo's west coast which has been uninhabited since the 1950s, has strengthened that inspiration. All jewelry pieces in our collections are handmade in our studio workshop in Sligo, by our family team of master goldsmiths.

Many thematic elements are combined into the Golden Shore collection. Broken sea urchin shells wash up on Mullaghmore strand. They're often quite intact but as they get rolled by the tide they lose their multitude of spike. You find them as delicate bleached cracked domes. Striations of sand after an outgoing tide informs the texturing of the pieces, and as ever there's the fabulous light we get here on the edge of Europe. There's nothing quite like the sparse clean light you get with the rise of the moon and the setting of the sun on a north Sligo beach . And of course Yeats cannot be far from inspiration in Sligo. He referred to the Sligo coastline as Sinbad's yellow shore in the recollections of his childhood here. We cant better the master poet but we just thought Golden Shore was a more apt name for these pieces.
