GOAL Daisy Pendant
Martina Hamilton_goal cheque .jpg

We wish to extend a sincere thanks to all of our customers who, over the last number of months, purchased the GOAL Daisy pendant. It is only with your help that we were able to contribute in such a positive way to the important work that GOAL do globally. In your name, it was a pleasure for Martina travel to Dublin to present to Alan Vard of GOAL, a donation cheque for €5000.

The donation is thanks to the proceeds of the GOAL Daisy Pendant, a bespoke silver pendant created specifically for the project and sold over the last few months. The pendant was the result of a design collaboration between Martina Hamilton and award winning garden designer and author Leonie Cornelius. Grace Galligan of House of Ireland very kindly supported the project as our retailer for the pendant in Dublin.

The idea for the unique piece of jewellery bloomed when Irish jewellery designer Martina and Leonie Cornelius collaborated for the GOAL campaign, What on Earth, in late 2018. GOAL works to help the world’s poorest people respond to and recover from humanitarian crises and the proceeds from the necklace will go directly to programmes overseas.

All proceeds from sales of the Goal Daisy go towards the invaluable work GOAL does globally and the positive impact it has on our fragile and precious world. Everyone will love wearing this delicate pendant which symbolises hope and joy while supporting the powerful work GOAL does around the world.

The daisy -Bellis perennis- is the one flower which grows everywhere in the world except the Antarctic. This delicate sterling silver daisy necklace is a representation of hope, growth and purity and is a symbol which connects all people worldwide. The representation of hope aligns with the work GOAL does worldwide to help communities in the wake of natural or manmade disasters. Since 1977, GOAL has responded to crises in 40 countries and continues to work with world’s poorest and most vulnerable people to help with food, water, healthcare and emergency response.

Martina's new collection Croi Sliogan got off to a fantastic start when she was lucky enough to encounter Her Royal Highness Sophie Countess of Wessex in Dublin during her recent state visit with Prince Edward. Martina just so happened to be launching the new collection in Dublin at the Kilkenny Shop when the Countess paid a visit.

‘The Countess admired the collection and asked me in detail about its origin and inspiration. I was happy to tell her about my long Sunday walks on Streedagh, about Sligo being the Shelly Place, and the reference to W B Yeats in the title. I asked her if it was OK for me to present her with a necklace from the collection, to which she replied “No, no unless you allow me to buy the earrings to match”.’

We were delighted to see Countess Sophie out and about in Dublin that night and at Chateâu de Fountainebleau in Paris the next day wearing the full collection. The inspiration of a broken piece of shell found on a north Sligo beach on a rainy winter’s day wound up in the international fashion spotlight.

Precious Matters.

A collaboration piece between Leonie Cornelius and I for Goal’s What on Earth Campaign 2018

It's been a gorgeous and uniquely rewarding experience to collaborate in creating this piece with Leonie Cornelius for  GOAL and their powerful, unique and wonderful Goal What on Earth campaign.

What On Earth is a collection of 100 resin globe sculptures which are being painted and decorated by artists, celebrities and crafts people from all over Ireland. The Globes will go on public display as a series of Art Exhibition’s around the country. Then they will be auctioned offin November to raise vital funds for GOAL, enabling the charity to continue its work, easing the plight of some of the most vulnerable people in the world.

We have titled our piece ‘PRECIOUS MATTER’. It uses sterling silver and 23.5 carat gold leaf to highlight the precious nature of our world. We hope the artwork represents the invaluable work GOAL does globally and the positive impact it has on our fragile and precious world.

Martina Goal-0274.jpg

The globe has been hand leafed using traditional techniques and we cannot express our thanks deeply enough to Maureen Quinn for her time and expertise with the gold leaf process.

We've also placed thirteen custom designed sterling silver daisy flowers around the globe. Each one grows out of an exact location where GOAL is currently working and we hope they symbolise the striking growth and impact which GOAL’s work has on those regions.

The daisy -Bellis perennis- was chosen as it is a symbol of hope, growth and purity. The one flower which grows everywhere in the world except the Antarctic, the daisy becomes a uniting symbol for all people worldwide and the ethical and moral responsibilities we share for each other. amazing images
